just do it like this, I cut my hair like this after having it over 10inches long, just cut it half an inch from the head, it's long enough and short enough, he doesn't have to worry about combing it and it looks quite manly me-thinks.... my mom cuts my hair...lol

If he is 10, why not ask him what he wants? Tell him to look through a few magazines to see if he see's something. He is definately old enough to pick out his own hairstyle.

Just look at his friends to see what style they have. I imagine he won't want to 'stick out like a sore thumb' in case they take the mickey out of him. He's old enough to have his own opinion about his hairstyle. Why don't you ask him?

If you want a hairstyle vs a hair cut, the only advice I can offer is to not send him to a barber. Why? As manly and hyper-testosterone as it is %26amp; I think all boys should experience it, THE CUTS ARE ALL THE SAME!! My son came home from school - he needed a cut - after a kid made fun of his longish hair, so I let him go to the local barber. It came out the same as everyone else's that walked out-even after my son called me at work to ask me how I thought he should get it cut, it truly didn't matter! LOL!!
