I am going to the salon, its a nice salon, and I got my hair cut there once and tipped $10.00. is that enough or should i be tipping more?

I tip the standard 15%, as long as I'm happy with the service and plan on going back. If I'm not happy, I tip 10% and don't go back. But my standard is 15% whether I'm at the hair salon, nail salon or massage therapist. As far as I knowk the tip rate is the same for any service no matter if it's at a restaurant or hair salon.

I'm a stylist, and my haircuts cost $120 for women. My usual tip is $20.00. And my assistant that shampooed your hair is usually tipped $3.00 - $5.00. If I have my assistant blow dry your hair, I would get 15.00 tip, and my assistant get $10.00 tip. Assistant's usually make minimum wage, FYI. I don't do color, so if you saw a colorist before you got to me, you'd tip about the same, to the colorist, and a little more like $5.00 to $8.00 to the assistant that shampooed your hair. (this is because it's more work to wash out color) Just letting you know what's normal for the salon I work in. This salon is in White Plains, NY.

I have an aunt who is an hair stylist, and she says the avarage tip for a normal hair coloring is 15% - 20% of the bill basicly you tip Food and Hair people the same.
