I plan to get my hair cut very short, soon. (Then - I'll bet that I won't mind washing it Often! Did U do that and are U glad U did? - When I was in my 40's - i wanted to keep Long hair; now I can't wait to get it cut; but I have very fine, thin hair and not sure I'll like it short; perhaps I'll even purchase a wig, but I don't want one that's too thick- because then that would not look like Me; l o l. any comments, etc. thanks and best wishes!

I (53) had long hair for about 30 years, then last year my daughter (26) and I donated our hair to Locks of Love (they make wigs for children who have lost their own hair due to cancer or other diseases). Think about doing this with your hair, as they really need it. People keep commenting on how professional I look now (I work at a university), and it does dry faster. If you have fine hair, you will be surprised at how much easier it will be to style, as fine hair is limp when long but tends to spring up when cut short. Best wishes on your new style!

for you my dear lady just let it grow shoulder length..you can do lots of styles with your hair when its not cut too short...you can look professional even with long hair as long as you know how to style it..short hair makes you look older..thats why almost everyone old with short hair look old...hehehe,.

I have long hair, soon to go short. I found some great photo's of short hair cuts on the Internet. Pick out one you like. You can even learn what is best for thin short hair. I wouldn't waste the money on the wig thing, (but that's just me.) I would, and did think of donating the hair to The Locks of Love Foundation, for Cancer patients, I've done that several times. I am in my late 40's. My hair is very fine and due to illness it is quite thin in spots.

My best friend is a hairdresser who finally talked me into cutting my hair which was below my shoulders to a kind of pixie cut. She colored it a bit darker than my naturally mousy brown color, layered it and added some reddish highlights.

Wow! The difference is wonderful!

Friends say it took years off of me! I love it.

The short layered look is awesome and so easy to care for!

If you get it cut, I hope your lucky enough to find someone who can help you as my friend helped me!

Hi it all depends on what type of salon you go to some charge more than others. I know for me when I had long thick hair the hairdresser I went to said it would cost between 40 and 60 pound. and another hairdresser said that she would dye my hair for 30 and when my mum went to the same hairdresser she charge my mum 35 5 for the cut and 30 for the highlights, so they must charge the same no matter weather they are colouring or highlighting. Just make sure they do it right as now adays hairdressers wont sort it out for you again if they mess it up, you have to still pay as they just did as you asked, what I mean is if you hair is already coloured a dark colour, then some salons wont even touch it as the colour wont take and you will end up with patchy bits of orange and blonde, but other just do it at your own risk and tell you that its how you wanted it and if you want it redying then you have to pay for that also.

Im not saying it will happen to you its just a warning.

I also think that someplace will charge up to 100 pound to have it done but they might actually do it right.

Second, Whatever your maritial problems are should not affect your decision about cutting your hair. It is your hair, and only your hair. You have the right to choose what to do with it. As far as your husband, he should love you for you, not your hair. But if you indeed do want to cut your hair to please him, trim it. Dont cut it! Only trim what you want!

I think you should compromise and cut some of it off but not too short. I don't know where you are from, but definitely avoid the "lemon tree" type franchises. Some of them have some decent stylists, but you can get stuck with someone really bad. Use your instinct. A salon with a really nice appearance on the outside, is a good start. One that offers other services, usually means they are serious about their business. And when you call to make an appointment, ask for one of their more experienced stylists. I find, though, that the younger the stylist, the more they do the hair the way i like it. So, again, use your instinct.

Don't be afraid of approaching them and asking them where they got their hair cut.....your not saying where you are so pinpointing a place is a little hard.....another way to find a place is get on the phone and ask the salon how long they have been in business....usually the ones owned by a few girls or a hairstylist are good. Not so much the franchises as they pay poorly and take people right from school....(they have to learn somewhere) but not on you!
